Visitor Management
Our school district has implemented a new Visitor Management system. Volunteers who want to gain access to school sites during school hours will be asked to present a valid CA driver's license or acceptable ID card. The District's notification system School Messenger sends messages via email and automated telephone calls regarding events, school closings, safety alerts, and more. In addition, you can also subscribe to receive SMS alerts (text messages). To opt-in to the service, text a “Y" or "Yes” to 67587. • You were successful if you receive the following SMS response: “You are registered to receive aprox. 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.” • You can unsubscribe at any time. Text the word, stop, to 67587. • NOTE: Although the District does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Arts Revival is Boosted by New Funding Formula
CVESD worked collaboratively with arts organizations in development of the District’s Visual and Performing Arts strategic plan. The strategic plan positioned the District well for significant changes in public education: California’s new funding formula for schools, and new state standards. The Board of Education was primed for a critical funding decision in 2014-15, when it announced its commitment to hire full-time VAPA instructors and provide arts instruction during the school day for all students. CVESD made an unprecedented $15 million investment in arts instruction, spread over three years. This also provided classroom teachers with release time for collaboration.
